As the parent or caregiver of a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, we know you probably have many questions about what the process of ABA therapy looks like for your child.
Let’s take a deeper look at the next steps of this empowering journey.
An individual behavioral assessment is the essential first step in planning your child’s individualized ABA therapy treatment plan. The assessment will be tailored to your child’s age and abilities, and may include evaluation in areas such as social interaction, verbal and nonverbal language abilities, behavioral challenges, motor skills, and level of independence related to daily life skills.
Based on the results of the initial assessments and/or recommendations from your child’s team of healthcare professionals, we will begin to create a comprehensive ABA treatment plan. Our team will coordinate with parents, caregivers, healthcare providers, therapists, or teachers as needed to ensure that our treatment approach effectively connects social, emotional, behavioral, and academic goals. As treatment begins, parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend and observe each session, and to ask questions about the ABA therapy techniques or methods used.
Your child’s RBT/Behavior Technician will observe behavior and monitor progress during every session, and will then compile all notes and statistical data into your child’s personal therapy record. Our team will perform regular analysis of positive outcomes or situational setbacks to ensure your child is on the right track to meet pre-defined goals and treatment objectives. If at any time the treatment plan needs to be reassessed to suit evolving needs or behavioral concerns, we will work with your family to adapt the individualized care plan as necessary.
We view ABA therapy as a collaborative partnership with parents, siblings, caregivers, and extended family of the children we serve. The team at CrystalCare ABA provides enrichment tools and community resources to supplement your home-based ABA therapy sessions, while also connecting you with others who understand what you’re going through. We also make sure that families are prepared with strategies to supplement their therapy sessions, which can be used at home, during family outings, or in a variety of social situations. With our innovative tools and training, families are better able to support generalization of skills developed during training to the child’s natural daily environments.
For families that believe their child would thrive in a setting outside the home, we offer in-office ABA therapy at the CrystalCare ABA facility. Our dedicated therapy rooms provide opportunities for stimulation in a positive, child-friendly environment that is specially designed to bring fun and excitement into the therapy process. Each room has a variety of sensory toys, games, planned activities, and comfortable furniture to create a relaxing space that feels welcoming for all ages.
Modern ABA therapy modalities combine a unique blend of evidence-based strategies, tools, and techniques, and no session will ever look exactly the same. Our ABA therapists constantly use innovative methods to keep sessions interesting, fresh, fun, and engaging for each child.
The process of ABA therapy is centered on the benefits of individualized therapy sessions, which may utilize a combination of scientific approaches to achieve the best outcomes.
Two of the most common approaches that are integrated into ABA therapy are Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Training (NET).
DTT is an ideal approach for autistic children who thrive in structured learning environments. Goals and tasks are broken into smaller components, and there is a large emphasis on positive reinforcement when progress is made, or goals are achieved.
NET is an open-ended approach that offers your child more flexibility, with a focus on making connections between skills learned in therapy and real-life situations. Rather than creating a defined session with a rigid structure, we listen to and learn from your child’s cues, ultimately using a variety of creative teaching and learning styles that suit the unique needs of your child.
With our individualized approach to ABA therapy, CrystalCare ABA works to perfectly lock the pieces of the puzzle into place to find the perfect fit.
Whether your child struggles with performing independent tasks, has trouble socializing or communicating with others, or displays problematic behaviors in public settings, the team at CrystalCare ABA understands. Our tailored ABA therapy sessions are designed to transform your child’s existing struggles into successes that can be celebrated for many years to come.
Our home-based ABA therapy services make the process of therapy convenient, accessible, and comfortable, also providing the flexibility to plan each session to fit within your busy schedule. One of the biggest benefits of in-home ABA therapy is that our RBTs/Behavior Technicians are able to model positive behaviors in the familiar environment where they actually occur each day.
ABA therapy successfully equips families with the tools to face day-to-day challenges, including mealtime struggles, potty training, bedtime routines, and social outings.
Home is a place of support, trust, and encouragement. A place where your child’s strengths shine through, building a strong foundation for a lifetime. Our RBTs/Behavior Technicians use every creative opportunity to help your child learn, grow, and thrive.
We use normal, everyday experiences as teaching opportunities, which may include family outings, community and social events, or interactions with other children. Through it all, we’ll help your child practice and apply the techniques and behaviors learned during their in-home ABA therapy sessions. There is so much to learn when the community is your classroom!
From mealtime to bedtime to family time, CrystalCare ABA gives you the tools you need to make every moment matter.
